A Brief Beach Break

Happy Wednesday, readers! The original plan was to bring you an author review this week while I soak up the sun and surf in here in Dauphin Island. Alas, the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.

Instead, I will leave you with a picture of what I am spending ninety percent of my time doing and an update on how my vacation reading is going. When we last spoke of it,  I had four books aligned for this trip- The Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo and Me Before You by Jojo Meyes. At the last minute, I tacked The Invasion of the Tearling to the front of that because I had finished The Queen of the Tearling and loved it.

Here is when I currently stand in my reading list:
The Invasion of the Tearling– done, loved it, upset that I have to wait another six months to read the final book in the series.
Shadow and Bone (Grisha Trilogy book 1)– it definitely took me a little while to get into it, but once I did, I really enjoyed it. I finished it midafternoon yesterday.
Siege and Storm (Grisha Trilogy book 2)– I’m on page 201 of 299. Pretty good, lacking the intrigue that drew me into the first, but I haven’t given up hope yet. I’m pretty sure I will have this book done by lunch and will be able to move onto the last book by the end of the day.
Ruin and Rising (Grisha Trilogy book 3)– To Be Read.
Me Before You– To Be Read.

I feel like I’m making pretty good headway into my own little mini reading challenge and it helps that we came to such a sleepy little island to vacation. Gives me a lot of time to read, but the local shops and sites are fun to walk around and explore as well!

  1. The Paperback Princess says:

Well this looks like paradise – I especially like the beach tent set up you guys have going.
I’d say you picked up some solid reading for your vacay – nothing too taxing because that is not what vacation reading is about. Hope you brought tissues for Me Before You…
And if you run out of reading material, then I would say a Liane Moriarty would go nicely on that beach!
